IOWA Test of Basic Skills
February 1st – 19th, all second grade students will take the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test), and the IOWA Test of Basic Skills.

The CogAT is divided into three sessions of under one hour. All test questions are multiple choice. The test will assess students’ abilities in reasoning and problem solving using verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal (spatial) symbols.

The IOWA test is divided into six sessions of under one hour per day. All test questions are also multiple choice.

This test is used to establish a general level of achievement for a large group of students. It is also a general measure of individual student achievement in all content areas. This test is nationally normed for the most relevant results. Individual student scores are one measure of eligibility for gifted and/or high ability subject acceleration.

Test results will be available four weeks after all testing has been completed. Parents will receive test results in the mail.
